Another very effective and efficient way to learn Swedish is the Uppsala International Summer Session. This is a very intensive summer course for the Swedish language. For I have taken part in 2011 Session, I have a lot to write about.
In Spring 2010, I was in a hurry and struggle to find a course or a practice to improve my level. Well, we always say: Whatever the dervish thinks is what s/he talks about all the time. My friend and classmate Valentina must have heard of my will and ardour about Swedish. She suggested me to take part in Uppsala International Summer Session (UISS). She had attended a two weeks session the year before and was very certain that the education was very good. However, I had already missed the application deadlines. Too late.
Anyway, I kept the post-it on my mind: Next summer, attend UISS.
On the other side, diverse things happened. In the winter, I found myself making my internship in an embassy of my own country. This was a mere dream for me while I was doing my bachelors in the 2000’s. Thus a second foreign language became a must for my career. Rather, something that which was already my passion just began to demand a little more care and study.
There is one thing I learned: If you are making plans, your thoughts and web browser linger around it. I remember that I browsed the UISS website for many many times. Just like I had done before I was admitted to Uppsala University. OK, I will also write about it, but later ;)
I had been a student for the last two years and my means of supporting myself were dwindling. I trust you know that living expenses and prices in Sweden are high for those who do not come from European Economic Area. I had to make a decision whether to ask for a scholarship or to wait for the next summer to save some amount. I just asked what I needed in order to attend the session in this summer. And the kind committee offered me the help I needed.
Then another journey started!
